K: Koushik Nama

J: the journalist

J: Hello. Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

K: I've been working with BNP Paribas for the past 10-plus years, whereas for the past nine-plus I was based out of Singapore. Recently as part of the mobility program, I shifted to India last year.

I'm working as a Co-Division Head for the Client Experience Division, where we are responsible for building client-facing applications. I'm actually coming from an IT background at BNP Paribas.

J: Can you tell us about your daily business?

K: I have a team responsible for delivering applications to clients. We, on a daily basis, work on multiple projects where we take input from the departments. Then we will have to ‘solution’ them and ‘deliver’ them. Our work ranges from mostly from run-the-bank to change-the-bank initiatives, if I have to say it in those terms.

J: And what's your most exciting challenge in the next few months, for example?

K: For the next few months, there are a lot of solutions that we are working on right now. We are going to more secure and safe apps, where clients feel good stability on the app. We are working on these apps through applications called MyWealth where we can achieve this purpose.

J: What are you most proud of in your career?

K: I'm proud of the way we were able to build the team. We were able to be more resilient at many times and then still against many odds that come our way.

J: And what would you say are the strengths of BNP Paribas?

K: 100% culture. So it would be over the years, having seen many people and myself going through this process, culture is the major asset of BNP Paribas.

You have your plus, you have minus, but eventually that is the culture to have self-respect inside the ecosystem and then to be able to express yourself, to be able to discuss openly.

We actually used that internally also to build the team.

J: What's your vision of innovation in the IT field, in the banking industry?

K: We have a lot of room for that. If you ask me, it's going to be exciting. We will be engaging more intuitively with the clients going forward with the technologies that are evolving.

J: Thank you very much.
